Morning Routines

This week’s Monday Listicles is based on what we do in an hour during the day.  I’m choosing to write about the mornings that Riley and I spend together.  Each morning is when our flurry of activity seems the most concentrated.  Imagine the minutes between 9a.m. and 10a.m…

1.  Change pull-ups and possibly wet sleep shorts, shirt, or sheets.

2.  Try to spend mommy time in the bathroom while there is a bouncing monkey on my bed.  Most likely have prying eyes.

3.  Announce usual breakfast menu of cereal, oatmeal, eggs, or fruit.  Hear sighs of disappointment.

4.  Commence scrambled egg making while starting the tea pot boiling.

5.  At the last minute, change eggs to over hard for myself and get out the milk for oatmeal for the customer that changed his order.

6.  Check emails while steeping tea.  Announce breakfast is ready.

7.  Collect customer from his room.  Pour juice and turn on Cailou

8.  Clean up kitchen.  Add apples to oatmeal per customer request.  Clean kitchen again.

9.  Sit back down at computer to start planning out the day.  Realize tea is cold.  Reheat in microwave.

10.  Take the next 10 or 15 minutes left in the hour while customer is occupied, to say my prayers and ask God to keep him safe during the upcoming day.  Then brace myself for the onslaught of food requests every 30 minutes after breakfast is over.

A boy’s life always revolves around food!
